Sometimes, but not always. A Bluetti can run many sump pumps and some small well pumps, if its continuous output covers the pump's running watts and its surge capacity covers the startup spike. Larger well pumps, especially 240V deep-well models, often need more than a single portable unit provides.
Why pumps are harder than they look
Pumps have motors, and motors draw a brief surge when they start, often several times the running wattage. A power station has to handle that surge as well as the steady load. Check the pump's nameplate or manual for running watts, starting watts (or amps and voltage), and whether it is 120V or 240V.
Sump pumps
Many household sump pumps are 120V and roughly 1/3 to 1/2 horsepower. These are the more realistic match for a portable power station. Runtime depends on how often the pump cycles, which depends on how much water is coming in. During a storm, it may run far more than on a dry day. Pair a unit with enough capacity with a plan for long outages, such as recharging or a backup pump.
Well pumps
- Shallow-well or small 120V pumps: possible with a model that has enough surge headroom.
- Deep-well submersible pumps: often 240V and with heavy startup loads. Many standard portable stations cannot supply 240V on their own. Check each model's output specs on the official Bluetti site, and ask a qualified electrician about expansion or split-phase options.
Well pumps are usually hardwired. Connecting a power station to one safely may require a transfer switch or a properly installed inlet. Do not backfeed a home circuit or improvise wiring. Hire a licensed electrician.

- Find the pump's running and starting watts, and its voltage.
- Compare them with the station's continuous and surge ratings.
- Estimate daily run time, then multiply by watts to get watt-hours needed.
- Add margin, since real-world efficiency and cold or hot conditions reduce usable energy.
Limits to accept
A power station is not a guaranteed flood defense. If a flooded basement would be costly or hazardous, consider a battery-backup sump system or a second pump as well. Confirm current specs and compatibility on the official site before buying.
